Boris Mikhaylovich Kustodiev (7 March [O.S. 23 February] 1878 – 28 May 1927) was a Russian painter and stage designer.
He was an extremely talented genre-painter and authored many powerful works. His poetic paintings have a strong theatrical vibe to them; they are incredibly vivid, yet subtle and reserved and raise people’s experiences to an art form.
Once, he wrote that what he wanted to convey through his paintings was his love of life and a sense of happiness and cheerfulness.
